Everytime I travel to a new town I always look for record stores to hit up since I'm a huge vinyl fanatic. Upon arriving at Skinnie's I was super excited because walking into the store I knew they primarily catered to the heavy metal/punk crowd. The store had quite a bit of viny which I immediately started looking through. I couldn't believe the prices that this guy was asking for his records. He was selling records for 2 to 3 times what they would go for on Ebay, which is generally a bidding war and overpriced marketplace. A good example would be the copy of Slayer-Seasons in the Abyss that was not sealed and not even in mint condition. Ole Skinnie was trying to sell this record for $80!!! Unreal, this record goes for half that on Ebay, if not less. This was just the beginning of Skinnie's high priced record charade. Nothing like trying to get $18 for a used copy of AC/DC-Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap that belongs in a thrift store 99 cent bin. Don't go to this place unless you like paying high prices to someone who doesnt seem overly friendly to begin with.

Skinnies has the best selection of rock 'n' roll music in all of Norfolk. Whether you want it on Vinyl, CD, DVD, or even a tee-shirt, you want it, they've got it! From Punk to Oi! to Metal to Psychobilly to Jazz to Alternative. They've got all the classics, the modern marvels and whatever else you want. If I can't find something anywhere else, I know I can find it at Skinnies.

Skinnie's records has moved recently to a bigger, more open location. They have a HUGE selection of rare CDs and vinyl. Not only that, but they offer up great T shirts and magazines as well. If you are looking for something and can't find it, the staff will order it for you. Skinnie's is an awesome record store and the perfect place for the music buff to check out. Most of the time you'll be surprised by what you find there in the way of rare and hard to find music, and often you see things that you didn't even know existed! The prices are ok, maybe a little bit expensive but no more than you'd pay at a national chain store.
