I started going here when Starbucks coffee got too expensive on my college student budget. The staff here is very friendly and the coffee is fair trade. Which means that the workers aren't exploited in the process. They serve a variety of vegan friendly foods and drinks and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The best thing about this spot is that it's low key and they don't mind if you spend two, three (and one time, four) hours there, working or hanging out.

I love Fair Grounds, and I go there often but the frequently obnoxious and loud bunch of teeny boppers on the outdoor patio, especially after the shop downstairs closes, will send me away if some crowd control doesnt happen in the very near future.

This cute little coffeehouse sits above an art gallery. The fireplace warms the general seating area that is furnished with comfortable living room furniture that you would expect to find in your rich uncle's house. The crowd is anywhere from student, to grunge, to lawyer. It's a great place to warm up in Ghent.
