IGNORANT SPA OWNER

Posted by Diana X. on 11/14/2009

I wrote a substandard review for Changes City Spa a few months ago. Reading through their other reviews, Changes City Spa has substandard services and staff. All the good reviews seemed to have been written years ago. I believe the reason for the bad service is due to the owner, Norma. Having dealt with her in the past, she could not care less about any customer service feedback. That is the reason the staff can get away with treating customers poorly with no consequence. 'The customer is always right' motto does not apply in this business. Norma launched a successful business and took it for granted by thinking it will always stay that way and not realizing that what she needed was loyal customers...as I once were! How is business now Norma?

Substandard Day Spa

Posted by Diana-7 on 1/5/2009

I was a regular customer at Changes Hair Styling and City Spa. I went to get my gel nails filled regularly by a very good (although a bit rough) nail technician that wanted to do MY nails HER way. After months of going to her I finally told her that I wanted my nails done a certain way and she refused. I decided not to go to her any more and made my next regular appointment with somebody else recommended by the front desk staff. A few days later I was told by the Spa manager and owner that they did not recommend for me to see another Nail Technician at Changes City Spa because I had been going to their 'Best Technician' and to see somebody else would be going down in standard and would not meet my needs. I felt that should have been my decision, but decided to go elsewhere. A management that only feels confident in one of their nail technicians to do a superb job is unsatisfactory. It also makes sense when reading other reviews stating that other nail services at Changes City Spa have been a 'disappointment'. On a positive note, I found a few other Nail Technicians in the area that are excellent. You may have to look a little harder, but they are out there.

Attention All Curly-Heads - Changes Is the Salon for You

I just got my hair cut by "Deborah" at the cityspa and she did an excellent job at cutting my naturally curly hair. Deborah listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and actually executed it wonderfully. She also understood that the strands of curly hair bend differently, so, she has to really pay attention to her cutting techniques. Her attention to detail worked out so well. I am so happy with my new 'do!I can't wait to get some color next time as I'm totally hooked on the place now.I've also had a manicure and pedicure there before too. It was such a nice experience...the vibrating chairs, the warm, bubbly water, excellent attention to detail and care, and, of course, the wine! ;)

Day Spa

Changes Day Spa has practically everything a girl could want -- and have even just opened up a Men's Spa right down the street called Jake's Place. Anyway, at Changes you can get full hair styling, manicures, pedicures (get the full treatment -- it's worth it!), and massages. they even do pre-natal massages which are kind of hard to find. The staff is excellent in every area I have only had one bad experience there and it was on a manicure. Not my favorite thing anyway, but still a disappointment. If you are having your hair done, I recommend Al. He is one of the most expensive, but I have tried the others and while they are all qualified, Al is the best! You should always try to make an appointment if going to the main facility, although walk-ins for hair are accepted at the auxiliary office down the street. But, try to go to the main one -- the spa is less than a year old and the whole experience is what makes it worthwhile. Enjoy!!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Changes is AWSOME!! In my highschool years, I worked there and let me tell you, these are the best stylists in this area! We had people from DC and Richmond coming to our salon, so that should tell you something! You get what you pay for, and yes, Changes is a bit pricey, but the services provided are worth every cent!! You will leave that place feeling like a million bucks!
